GAIN THE SKILLS
TO DIRECT OUR
NURSES WELL INTO
THE FUTURE.

OUR PLAN TO PROMOTE STRONG CLINICAL MANAGEMENT.

Like you, Kootenai Health is always looking forward in anticipation of short- and long-term needs. That is why we have created our Aspiring Nurse Leader Program. The program is designed to identify and create career pathways for nurses who are passionate about and demonstrate leadership potential and are looking to advance their careers in nursing leadership. The Aspiring Nurse Leader Program is the perfect way to continue your professional growth while maintaining Kootenai Health’s excellent care and clinical management legacy.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Aspiring Nurse Leader Program pairs participating nurses with experienced mentors who assist them in completing a 12-month program of reading, courses, and experiences that culminates in the completion of an evidence-based practice project. Program participants will be prepared to step into available leadership positions, reducing their transition time and promoting preparedness.

Kootenai Health developed the Aspiring Nurse Leader Program to prepare nurses to assume leadership roles when senior leaders transition from their roles. Nurse leaders impact quality care, staff engagement, and patient satisfaction. After completing the program, aspiring nurse leaders may apply for available manager and other leadership positions throughout Kootenai Health.

As a participant in this structured, yearlong professional-development program, you will be paired with an experienced nurse leader/mentor. Together, you will work through the ANL Curriculum, based on Kootenai Health’s Leadership Imperatives. You will be allotted time for classes, monthly support meetings, and meaningful exposure, learning from experienced nurse leaders. The program culminates in the completion of a project that aligns with the strategic nursing plan.
